What is the ABU Remedial Programme?
The ABU Remedial Programme is designed to prepare students for university admission by giving them additional academic preparation before they proceed to their desired degree programmes.
The programme runs for 9 months.
Students on the remedial programme are also expected to sit for the JAMB UTME. This means applicants should still prepare properly for JAMB and aim for a good score, as the UTME result remains an important part of the admission process.
Students who successfully complete the programme and meet the required conditions can then proceed with the university admission process.
What is the IJMB Programme?

After completing IJMB, students can seek admission into 200 Level through Direct Entry, provided they obtain the required IJMB score and meet the admission requirements for their chosen course and institution.
Unlike the remedial programme, IJMB students do not have to write the JAMB UTME to secure admission into the university.
When will ABU IJMB Form be available?
According to the ABU Special Bulletin, the sale of IJMB admission forms will commence in January 2027.
Therefore, students interested in IJMB should not mistake the current remedial admission exercise for the IJMB application.

Are Remedial and IJMB Students Given Preference During Admission?
Students who go through ABU’s remedial or IJMB programmes still have to meet the relevant admission requirements.
For remedial students, this includes meeting the required conditions and obtaining a good JAMB UTME score. For IJMB students, the required IJMB score and Direct Entry requirements must be met.
Successfully completing either programme does not automatically guarantee admission, but students who meet the University’s requirements can proceed through the relevant admission route.
